Course Requirements / pre-requisite: Must be a member of the Varsity Basketball Team
Background: Each year, the varsity basketball team comes together during Winterim in a unique format. During the two weeks of Winterim, the team spends one week on campus in a concentrated practice format along with local mission projects and a book study. During the other week of Winterim, the team traditionally goes to another area of the nation to visit high level colleges, practice at college level facilities, play out of state opponents and work together on a missions project in the areas they are visiting. The time together has been a historically great benefit for the team to bond and unite under a common vision and mission.
Winterim 2013: The Varsity Boys Basketball team will travel to North Carolina the first week of January, 2013. We will be practicing at the University of North Carolina and planning to attend games at NC State and Duke. We will also travel to Davidson University where we will practice and attend a game. We will also play varsity games against two local high schools from North Carolina. There is a scheduled visit to the Billy Graham museum and participation in a service project. This year we will be helping prepare shoe boxes for children who didn't receive Christmas presents at Samaritan's Purse in Charlotte. As part of this Winterim experience, the players will be studying a book together. The book has yet to be chosen.
