Curriculum Night

All returning WA parents are strongly encouraged to attend this evening. You will have the opportunity to pick up individual student Course Registration packets; get an overview of new course offerings, online registration process, and changes for the 2011-2012 school year; and attend special break-out sessions, including the following:

Spring Musical Showtime and Ticket Information
Once again it is SPRING MUSICAL time, and this year the Academy Theatre is proud to present the Broadway musical Beauty and the Beast. The performances are February 25 and 26 and March 3, 4, and 5. All shows begin at 7:00 p.m. and dessert is served at intermission. Seating is reserved so don’t wait to purchase your tickets. We look forward to seeing you and your family at the show! This year we are pleased to offer online ticket purchasing as well as the ability to purchase tickets with a credit card. We hope that these new features will make your ticket purchasing easy and hassle-free. Tickets are now on sale so reserve your seat now! Spring Musical Helpers Needed
This year's spring musical Beauty and the Beast promises to be an exciting show. We are in need of volunteers to bake or donate for the purchase of a dessert to be served at intermission. If you would be willing to help, please email Kori Hockett. We need helpers for the weekends of February 25-26 and March 3-5. Thank you for considering helping in this way - we truly couldn't do this without you!
  
Financial Assistance Application
The Business Office is currently accepting financial aid applications for the 2011-2012 school year. We continue to partner with FACTS Management Company to help administer this process. Application proceduresCommon Questions about Financial Aid and a direct link to the FACTS application site can be found on the Wheaton Academy website.
Some important things to remember:
-Aid is available on a first-come, first-served basis. 
-Your application is complete when all required documentation has been submitted (2010 tax return and Letter of Intent).
-When you receive your award letter, a non-refundable 5% tuition (after aid) deposit will be due within 2 weeks to lock in your aid .
-A signed enrollment contract is also due with deposit.
-Endowment Grant Scholarship applications are due with financial aid applications.
The final deadline is March 15. Please note that there is a $25 financial aid application fee. It can be paid by credit or debit card. If you have questions regarding the FACTS application, please contact a FACTS Customer Care Representative at 1-866-315-9262. Help is available M-Th 7:30-7:00 and F 7:30-5:00. Qualified Education Receipts
If you would like to receive a "Receipt for Qualified Education Expenses" for 2010, please call the Business Office at 630-562-7512 or email Leslie Green.
 
Don't Forget to Sign Up for Driver's Education
In an effort to accommodate student schedules and extracurricular activities, Excel Driving School is now offering after school driver’s education courses at Wheaton Academy. Two courses will be offered each semester that will run on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. The next available session will run from April 4 to May 5, 2011. Sophomore Field Trip to the Illinois Holocaust Museum
On March 2 the sophomore class will take a class field trip to the Illinois Holocaust Museum. March 2 is a Wednesday and students will need to arrive at WA at 8:00 a.m. instead of 9:00 a.m. Students will be gone all day and the cost is $21. Permission slips and money are due February 23 and need to be turned in to Evan Jasper. Students need to get permission slips from their sophomore world history teacher (Nate Leman or Evan Jasper).
 
Spring Sports/Activities Yard Sign Sale
We have WA yard signs for drama and music as well as a Warrior (generic) sign. We also have track, soccer, tennis, softball, baseball, volleyball, and cheerleading yard signs available. Click here for an order form and to view a sampling of the signs. Yard signs can be ordered at the Spring Sports Kick-off on March 12. All orders are due by Monday, March 14. Questions? Parent Seminar - Saturday, February 19 AND Saturday, March 19 - 8:30-10:00 a.m.
What is and is not normal in teenage emotions and behaviors? Presented by Chris Mazarella, Psy.D.,LCPC, Heritage Professional Associates. We are offering this two times, as it has been a popular topic. This session will explore the turbulent and confusing nature of teenage emotions and behaviors. We will look at normal teenage emotions and behaviors as well as problematic emotions and behaviors. We will also discuss depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD as well as other issues common to teenagers. If you are interested in attending, please  R.S.V.P.  to Seminars@wheatonacademy.org (This will help us plan for seating and handouts/materials). A representative from Trinity Christian College will be at WA on Wednesday (February 23) during our lunch period.
 
AP Registration
Information on this year’s Advanced Placement testing is being distributed to all WA students taking an AP course. AP exams will take place the first two weeks of May. For further information, contact Dan Crabtree.
 
Registering for the ACT
Each year most WA juniors take the ACT on the April test date. Registration is done through ACT, not through the school – we are simply a test center for the April 9 exam. Students must register for the ACT by March 4. Go to www.act.org and click on Register for the test.

Spring Sport Physicals
All students in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade who intend to tryout for a spring sport are required to have a current sports physical on file. Sports physicals are valid up to 365 days after the initial examination date. Students without current sports physicals will not be permitted to tryout. Contact Ryan Hall with questions.
  
Summer Athletic Camp Schedule
The Summer Athletic Camp schedule is now posted on the Wheaton Academy athletics website. Visit the site for more information on all the opportunities this summer. Registration will open on Tuesday, March 1. Contact Ryan Hall with questions.
 
Bass Fishing Tournament
You have an opportunity to join the WA bass fishing team for this April. We can have up to 2 boats participate from WA and there can be up to 3 people in a boat. We are registered for the sectional which will take place at the end of April. It will be a one-day fishing tournament and if you win you can advance on to the state tournament. If you are interested and have a boat available please come down to the Athletics Office and sign up with Ryan Hall. Each team will need one parent/driver.
