I was homeschooled before I came to Wheaton Academy, and I was pretty shy when I was younger. Since coming here, I’ve grown a lot more confident and open, and that’s because of the people I’ve met. When I first came, I was afraid that I wouldn’t connect with my teachers, but they made a point of reaching out to me and getting to know me. The students here were inviting and joyful. Everyone made me feel comfortable and safe.
There are so many amazing opportunities here! Through the Pixar Project, I got to write a story, create an animated character, and film my story with a group of students. That experience helped me discover a love for storytelling and writing, and I’ve been able to dive into those interests further both inside and outside of my classes.
I have friends at other schools and sometimes we talk about how we’re doing at school. Whenever I talk about this place, I realize that I’m smiling. I’ve grown so much and plugged myself into a lot of awesome groups and clubs. This place has been a big blessing for me.
