An Innovative January Term

Winterim

Modeled after the college January term concept, Winterim was introduced in 1991 and has become an enormously popular component of a Wheaton Academy education. As a Wheaton Academy Winterim student, you will be given forty to sixty classes to choose from each year, but you will also have the unique opportunity to travel the world on a variety of educational and missions trips. You will also have the opportunity to experience a profession first-hand through an internship.

During Winterim, choose from 40-60 specialized courses every year. You’ll have many opportunities to explore your passions and learn practical skills.

Internships

Winterim Internships are a unique opportunity for you to observe and experience a working professional’s life for two weeks. Learn firsthand how lawyers spend their time outside the courtroom, discover the patience required to teach second grade, and observe the precision required to be an engineer or research scientist. Your internship experience will help you make decisions about your major in college, and more importantly it will help you to see how God has uniquely equipped you for what’s ahead. Completing an internship is such a valuable experience, we’ve made it a graduation requirement.

Because we place such high value on internships, students must complete one internship sometime in their four years of Winterim. For more information, please refer to the graduation requirements outlined in the curriculum guide.

Trips

Travel the world during Winterim! Climb to the top of Arthur’s Seat in Scotland, attend Broadway shows in New York City, or serve kids in Guatemala through a music ministry program. Choose from trips with a focus on education, adventure, leadership development, service and more.
