A Message from Our Principal
"Asking for helping is not only an important life-skill, but it the sign of a wise person. We all want you to be successful. Sometimes the most important step for you as students is to reach out and ask for help."
E-Learning Spotlights
Students Talk to Wheaton Academy Parent About Growing Up Under Apartheid
In Ms. Dunlap’s class, students had a Zoom call with a Wheaton Academy parent from South Africa. Mr. Phillips grew up under apartheid and spoke to students about his experiences and about Nelson Mandela.
Students Study Coronavirus Testing
In Genetics and Biological Research, students have been studying the kinds of tests being done on the front lines of our response to the novel coronavirus. Starting with techniques like PCR, which are used to detect virus genetic material in humans during an active infection, and now moving to antibody tests, these students are learning how laboratory techniques can help turn the tide against the disease. While they’d rather be practicing the techniques in the labs at WA, being able to discuss them online and using virtual simulations is helping these students learn to separate the news from the noise regarding science’s role in the global pandemic.
Students Produce Life-Saving PPE
Wheaton Academy student makers are tackling real-world problems and helping to produce life-saving personal protective equipment (PPE) for local healthcare heroes.
