January 1, 2020 2019: A Year in Photos God has been faithful to Wheaton Academy year after year. Here are some of the many highlights from 2019… During Winterim 2019, students traveled, interned, and learned new skills like woodworking (above). On a Winterim trip to Israel, students visited many well-known biblical sites. In her Winterim internship, Norah Fitzpatrick experienced the medical profession first-hand. During Spiritual Life Week, Steve Carter challenged students to go deep with Jesus. At the annual spring Sock Hop, students roller skated down the halls of Wheaton Academy. In February, Wheaton Academy students performed the Broadway Musical “Newsies.” At the annual Mr. WA competition, the student body raised over $8,500 for our KidsAlive sponsored students in the DR and Haiti through Project LEAD Global. At the end of the spring semester, we revealed the new Wheaton Academy logo. Our new visual identity represents our commitment to biblical education and honors our legacy. For graduation, the Wheaton Academy Class of 2019 gathered at Wheaton College’s Edman Chapel to celebrate a milestone! In August, we welcomed a full school back to campus. Seniors dominated in this year’s Homecoming competition. Students collected and packed 5,046 cans for a local food bank during a Homecoming service event organized by Project LEAD Local. On Homecoming Friday, the Warriors celebrated their 9-0 win with a spectacular fireworks show. This fall, Wheaton Academy students were inducted into the National Honor Society, Société Honoraire de Français, and Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. Students analyzed the breaking and forming of chemical bonds during their experiments in Mr. Regan’s class. The chorus girls were a big hit in our fall musical, “Little Shop of Horrors.” In November, Wheaton Academy published the first issue of the academic journal “Ratio.” During Kairos Show, our international students performed a one act comedy, dance numbers, and even a rap. Also in November, Head of School Steve Bult, Principal Kori Hockett, and Vice-Principal Brad Thornton traveled to Washington DC to receive the National Blue Ribbon Award on behalf of Wheaton Academy. Find out more about the Blue Ribbon. The 2019 fall sports season finished strong with championships at the conference and regional levels as well as placements at State. Above, the Boys Golf team competed in the IHSA 2A State Championship. Way to go, Warriors! In December, students celebrated Christ’s birth at our annual Christmas Concert.
