Discovering New Passions in Classes

In Winterim classes, students dive deeply into specialized skills and topics, often discovering a calling or passion that drives decisions for years to come.

Rock Climbing

In “Rock Climbing” class, students learned climbing techniques and earned their belay certification while climbing at Vertical Endeavors.

WWII Christian Witness Class

Students taking “Christian Witness in the Time of War: WWII and the Holocaust” had the privilege of hearing firsthand stories from WWII veterans, including a 100-year-old Navy veteran who served as part of the D-Day invasion.

Students in “Hand Tool Woodworking” learned the age-old artisan skill of woodworking using only hand tools.

Gaining Professional Experience in Internships

Students have opportunities to learn about a profession firsthand by interning with churches, lawyers, educators, doctors, businesses, and artists. We believe that the internship experience can help students make decisions about their major in college, and more importantly will help them to see how God has uniquely equipped them for what’s ahead.

Maryland State Attorney's Office Internship

Madeleine Zeager ’27 interned at a State’s Attorney’s Office in Montgomery County, Maryland. Madeline had a first hand opportunity to observe how justice is achieved through the American judicial system.

Camcraft Internship

An aspiring engineer, Thegn Phinney ’26 interned at Camcraft, a company that specializes in precision machining. Thegn shadowed experienced technicians, gaining firsthand insights into the process of designing and manufacturing solutions to complex challenges in aerospace.

Black Forest Internship

Kristen Holwerda ’26 interned at Black Forest Academy, an international Christian school in Kandern, Germany that serves missionary families. Her internship allows her to combine her interests in missions and elementary education.

Celebrating Culture and Creation on Trips

Recognizing and celebrating the uniqueness within our student body is one way we build a Kingdom Community. Winterim trips are another way to celebrate differences and take joy in honoring the diversity of God’s creation in the cultures and places we visit around the world.

In Scotland, students partnered with Herald’s Trust, a ministry that connects seekers with local churches through evangelistic outreach. Our students shared their testimonies and passed out copies of the book of John, engaging in deep gospel conversations on the streets of Edinburgh.

Thailand

In Thailand, students enjoyed a cultural immersion experience traveling from the capital city of Bankok to Chiang Mai, a northern city in the mountains. Besides visiting historical landmarks and learning Thai cooking techniques, students marveled at the wonder of God’s creation while visiting an Elephant Sanctuary.

In Nicaragua, we partnered with Students International. Our students had the opportunity to practice their Spanish while working in specialized teams with local experts to serve the needs of the community across  diverse fields like medicine, social work, agriculture, and more.

Thank You!

Many of our students would be unable to engage in such a unique and meaningful experience were it not for your generous and ongoing support of the Warrior Fund. Thank you for the impact you are having in the lives of our students. I am truly grateful for your partnership.
